How to apply

The Awards Committee receives applications and makes awards annually in April. Each year the closing date for applications is:
28 February for April awards
Each application for an award will be considered on its own merits under the terms of the remit of the Susan Emery Trust. The decision of the Awards Committee is final.

Eligibility for an Award

To be eligible for an award, applicants will normally either work in Scotland or intend to use the award for professional or educational activities based in Scotland.
Applicants must be either:
Category 1
Undertaking or applying for a psychoanalytic clinical training in Scotland, registered by the British Psychoanalytic Council, in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, child & adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and psychoanalytic couple psychotherapy where psychoanalytic is as defined by the British Psychoanalytic Council.
Category 2
Planning to attend, deliver or support a conference, or educational event that develops psychoanalytic thinking and practice.
Category 3
Intending to facilitate or promote improved practice in the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy through audit, research, education.
Category 4
Seeking to deliver events that advance the awareness and promotion of psychoanalytic thinking to a wider audience.
Applicants may receive no more than one award in any one calendar year, although awards may be made to the same applicant, if merited, in subsequent years.
Successful applicants will be required to provide feedback on the educational and/or health benefit following from the award, together with receipts or other evidence showing how the funds awarded were used.
